The New Face of Rugged: Meet the Newest Panasonic Toughbook Handhelds
Today’s workforce is evolving faster than ever before, creating new opportunities and challenges for employees across every industry. To remain competitive and increase revenue, companies must learn how to adapt to these changes and create a smarter, more responsive workplace. As the global business landscape continues to shift, Panasonic remains committed to providing the purpose-built technologies that help workers do their jobs better, and more efficiently.
While many workers frequently use mobile devices throughout the day or their shift, standard, off-the-shelf options don’t cut it for those working in tough commercial environments, or that need unique capabilities, like high-volume barcode scanning. To solve this, we introduced a new pair of handheld devices to the Toughbook line, created to address the diverse needs of today’s workers, and provide companies with the mobility tools that meet the specific needs of businesses. On the exterior, the FZ-T1 and FZ-L1 are designed with a sleeker, slimmer profile to improve versatility, but are purpose-built with the same Toughbook promise of rugged reliability. With these new devices, more workers can take advantage of the cutting-edge solutions that keep mobile teams connected in the digital enterprise.
Dynamic Devices for the Connected Workplace
Whether mounted inside a vehicle or held in the hand, the 7-inch FZ-L1 tablet and the 5-inch FZ-T1 handheld offer the flexibility and durability that employees need when capturing and accessing information on-the-go. With an eye-catching design yet rugged exterior, the FZ-L1 and FZ-T1 can be used for both back-of-the-house activities and face-to-face interactions with customers. Using an integrated barcode scanner, workers can quickly and reliably scan 44 types of 1D/2D barcodes, meaning they can work faster and records are better kept. With the FZ-L1, users have the ability to configure the barcode scanner for landscape and portrait mode, reducing the time needed to complete the task. Both devices are equipped with long-lasting batteries that can be easily “warm swapped,” eliminating the need to recharge or switch devices throughout the workday.
Purpose-Built for the Needs of Every Employee
Running on the latest Android operating system (Oreo 8.1), the FZ-L1 and FZ-T1 have a familiar form-factor to consumer-grade devices used in employee’s personal lives, allowing for a faster training and integration period. This also means that companies are not at risk of losing resources or wasting productivity during the transition from legacy devices. The FZ-L1 and FZ-T1 are available in two models: a Wi-Fi only version, and one which supports optional voice and data services on Verizon, AT&T and Panasonic’s P.180.
To meet the needs of workers in extreme environments, like construction sites, the FZ-L1 and FZ-T1 are MIL-STD-810G certified with a five foot drop. In addition to being dust proof, the FZ-T1 is IP66/68 rated, and is sealed to withstand up to 5 feet of water, whereas the FZ-L1 is IP65/67 rated, and can survive 3 feet of water. To cut through the clamor of loud workplaces, the FZ-T1 features three microphones and a built-in noise suppressor, as well as a 95dB volume speaker for clear communication. For seamless data capture, the FZ-T1 is equipped with an 8 Megapixel camera and has 2GB RAM / 16GB flash storage.
