Established in 1964, Bleyhl Farm Services provides orchard, vineyard and farm supplies to the farmers in central and eastern Washington State. The company is a cooperative owned by the farmers, and a main aspect of the company’s services is to deliver fuel, propane and diesel to the farmers for their operations.
While in the field, drivers need an easy-to-use and efficient device to complete the deliveries in a timely manner. Bleyhl Farm Services’ Network Administrator, John Sullivan, was keen on finding a device that would not only improve efficiency, but could also handle the rough environment of farming where the drivers work.
SELECTING THE RIGHT DEVICE
When assessing the various options for its fleet and drivers, Bleyhl Farm Services looked for a rugged and reliable mobile device solution that would also work with the truck meters that dispense fuel and could run the software that controls the flow of diesel and propane.

After fuel is delivered, the data is saved on the device. At the end of each day, drivers return to the office, save the information to the home office server, and are ready to be back out on the road for the next day’s deliveries.
Before the implementation of Toughbooks, drivers spent significantly more time back in the office uploading information into the system. Now, drivers spend an average of 10 minutes in the office.
