Jeff Gordon Toughbook Sweepstakes Winner Hits the Track

Two Toughbook users – and NASCAR fans – just had the weekend of a lifetime, courtesy of the Jeff Gordon Panasonic Toughbook Sweepstakes.

Earlier this year, fans were invited to enter for the chance to win prizes including a three-night trip for two to watch the Sprint Cup Series race in Michigan and meet racing legend Jeff Gordon. As the grand prize winner, Williamstown, N.J. resident Kevin Sack, took his father Fred on the trip to see the Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway firsthandP1000557.

Both self-described “motorheads,” the pair regularly use Toughbook mobile computers on the job with a public transportation company.

Fred, who works as a superintendent of maintenance for bus operations, said he’s used Toughbook computers for about a decade. The durable devices are a must in a working environment where grease, grime, oil, dirt and dust are all regular occurrences, he said. Kevin, a bus mechanic, added that the rugged laptops are often connected to vehicles and used for troubleshooting.

“We had regular laptops in the beginning but they were just getting beat up so much,” Fred said. “The company found the Toughbook and we’ve been using them ever since.”

Kevin’s prize package included the new Toughbook 54 – the lightest and thinnest semi-rugged laptop in its class. With its durable build and enterprise-class power under the hook, in the future it could replace the rugged laptops he uses in the shop.

“I’m looking forward to playing around with it and checking it out,” he said.
