ASIS 2014: Trends We’re Excited For
ASIS International is one of the world’s biggest security events, and this year it will feature more than 600 exhibitors and draw an expected crowd of 20,000 to the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. As we pack our bags and equipment in preparation for this year’s exhibition, here are a couple of trends we’re excited to see during the show:
With every new generation of video surveillance solutions, one of the primary goals is to improve the quality and clarity of the images produced. We’ve seen major improvements in camera quality over the past few years with HD and Full HD capabilities. 4K resolution is pushing those improvements even further and we expect to see quite a few more developments in this category at ASIS, so stay tuned!
Surveillance For Business & Operational Analytics
Not only can video surveillance and security solutions serve as loss prevention tools, they can also provide enhanced business intelligence. For example, advanced analytics capabilities provide insights into floor behavior and traffic patterns, helping to improve business processes and marketing strategies in retail environments.
Panasonic will be hosting live demos of its FacePro Facial Search and Recognition System, which can execute high-speed searches of up to 1,000 registered reference faces from source video or imported photo files and can be searched for a match in a matter of seconds. The FacePro platform also allows for advanced face counting, age and gender analytics reporting and the ability to set flexible alarm triggers on matched faces using live cameras to track people movement in public spaces – ideal for campus security, airport, transit/public safety and enterprise settings.
