Projection Mapping Creates Spectacular Winter Light Show at the Venetian Macao

Although the Italian-inspired holiday celebration first started at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, in November 2012 “Winter in Venice” arrived in Macau, China, at the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. The highlight of “Winter in Venice” was a spectacular 3D light and sound show called “The Magic of the Seasons,” which was hosted nightly at The Venetian Macao lagoon through the holiday season.

Backed by the unique architecture of the hotel, more than 500 “The Magic of the Seasons” shows took audiences through a journey of the four seasons through stunning imagery, orchestra music and an array of special effects. Designed, produced and implemented by Laservision, a leader in entertainment communications, it took over 12,000 production hours and 35 crew members from six countries to create this unique, customized sound and light show.

A large number of high-resolution projectors were required to create this large-scale architectural 3D projection mapping show and Laservision chose to use Panasonic PT-DZ21K 3-Chip DLP™ projectors for their high brightness and reliability. Featuring 20,000 lumens each, 26 projectors combined to provide over half a million lumens of light power, making it possible to cover the projection surface of more than 43,000 square feet of the Venetian Macao’s facade. With the PT-DZ21K’s Multi-Screen Support System, the 26 projectors were seamlessly edge-blended to create a single, dynamic work of art. The projectors’ durability during extended operation, and a high level of reliability achieved by a multi-lamp system and liquid cooling system were also key to their performance.

“Winter in Venice” at the Venetian Macao took the notion of decorating for the holidays with lights to the next level with “The Magic of the Seasons.” You can read more about the project on the Panasonic website here and watch a video of the spectacular light and sound show below.
